評估生物炭製成苗盆之可行性

The disposal of non-compostable plastic has caused plastic pollution in every corner of the world. Along with agriculture, the demand for plastic for agricultural purposes is increasing. This non-compostable plastic will not only affect the environment but also in human life. In recent years, people have increased their awareness of the environment, along with the demand for eco-friendly products that pose no threat to the environment. The purpose of this study is to test whether biochar pot is a suitable growing environment for corn nursery in order to minimalize or even substitute the usage of plastic pot. Biochar acquired from gasification will undergo inhibition assessment using corn as a target crop. After that, pot was made with a mixture of peat moss and starch with an equal amount. Peat moss was subject to the replacement with different ratios of biochar (5%, 10%, 15%, and 100%) and to make the biochar-pot. The corn also will undergo a water-deficit stress test with the biochar pot. The result showed no significant difference in corn growth during biochar inhibition assessment. However, soil with biochar application has increased its properties such as pH, EC, water holding capacity, and soil organic matter. The results of the peat moss replacement experiment showed that corn shoot dry weight was increased in the replacement ratio of 100% biochar. In the water-deficit test, biochar of 100% and 15% have the highest shoot fresh-weight, and there was a significant increase in shoot dry-weight with biochar of 100%. The overall findings revealed that biochar pot is suitable as a growth pot for corn seedling without inhibiting its growth.

不可堆肥塑料的處理在世界各個角落造成了塑料污染。農業用塑料伴隨農業的需求持續增加。這種不可堆肥的塑料不僅會影響環境,還會影響人類生活。近年來,人們對環境和對環境無害的環保產品的需求日益增加。本研究目的為測試生物炭苗盆是否適合用於玉米苗圃,以最大程度地減少甚至替代塑料盆栽的使用。從氣化獲得的生物炭將以玉米為目標作物進行抑制性評估。之後用等量的泥炭苔蘚和澱粉的混合物製成苗盆。用不同比例的生物炭(5%、10%、15%和100%)替換泥炭蘚製成生物炭苗盆。玉米也將透過生物炭苗盆進行缺水壓力測試。結果顯示,在生物炭抑制評估中,玉米生長無顯著差異。但是,使用生物炭的土壤增加了其特性,例如pH值、EC、容水量和土壤有機質。泥炭蘚替代實驗的結果顯示,在100%生物炭的替代率中,玉米筍的乾重增加。在缺水試驗中,100%和15%的生物炭具有最高的莖鮮重,而100%的生物炭則使莖乾重顯著增加。整體研究結果顯示,生物炭苗盆適合作為玉米幼苗的生長盆器,而不會抑制其生長。
